Welcome to the world of teaching and learning at a distance through the University of Idaho. If you have never experienced an online course before, you are probably wondering how it differs from a face-to-face class and how those differences might affect your academic success. It’s a valid concern. Taking on online class is a little different than a face-to-face class. However, you will discover that the same qualities that lead to success in traditional classes—like enthusiasm, self-discipline, critical thinking, creativity, and solid communication skills—will also lead to success in online courses.

What is DEE?

The Division of Distance and Extended Education (DEE) helps design and create web-based classes for the Blackboard Learn course management system and offers training and workshops for faculty looking to expand their use of online teaching resources. We are also responsible for Summer Session, Dual Credit, and Independent Study. Our unit is committed to offering quality, innovative, and student-centered courses and programs in which students and instructors participate in interactive and engaging learning activities that leverage Web-based technologies to achieve program and university learning objectives.
